Description

We are looking for a SQL Server DBA Contractor short term contractor who can start straight away. Role will be based in Ireland Galway.

JOB PURPOSE

Fintrax hosts over 50 Fintech Services from real - time database - backed web - applications to large financial databases. Th is DBA will take a lead role in supporting highly available secure OLTP and large scale OLAP systems. The DBA's role ' s primary focus is supporting the organization's Microsoft SQL Server Database Servers.

KEY RESULT AREAS

  • Developing of Database Administration reports on SQL Server Reporting Service.
  • Programming of data collection jobs with T-SQL and powershell.
  • S ubject matter expert on operational and technical aspects of database administration and evaluating new technologies.
  • Working with Applications Teams to devise highly - available, good performing, secure and scalable database solutions
  • Technical member of Project Team for SQL consolidation and data warehousing projects.
  • Owning, tracking, managing, prioritizing and resolving database related incidents and requests, fulfilling requests and resolving incidents within SLAs.
  • Reviewing service related reports (eg database backups, maintenance and data processing jobs, monitoring availability and proactive alerts) on a daily basis to ensure service issues are proactively identified and resolved within established SLAs.
  • Perform ing object level analysis and performance tuning on SQL.
  • Maintaining data standards, database security and ensure full compliance with policies and procedures, including adherence to Data Protection and PCI.
  • Suggesting areas for improvement in internal IT processes as they relate to database administration.
  • Configuring and providing additional SQL Server component services as Reporting Services, Analysis Services and Integration Services.
  • Flexibility regarding hours of coverage may be required, g iven th e dynamic growth rate of the company.

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

  • Good verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group, IT staff, managers and subject matter experts
  • Ability to diagnose Root Cause Analysis of problems in a complex environment and to provide effective solutions quickly and reporting of same.
  • Self-motivated and ability to work on own initiative in a pressure environment.
  • Ability to generate documentation and keep existing documentation updated
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience of SQL and Oracle Database Administration supporting live production databases

SKILLS

  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server (SQL 2005 to 2012), SQL 2014 is a plus
  • Experience with T-SQL
  • Experience with building SQL Server Reporting Service reports
  • Experience with Windows Powershell
  • Experience in performance tuning and optimisation
  • Experience in implementing replication, High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) features ( AlwaysOn, L og Shipping, Merge replication and Database Mi rroring).
  • Experience in working with VMWare, SANs and SAN attached storage
  • Experience with backups, restores and recovery models
  • TSQL/SQL Development and DBCC Best Practices Implementations
  • Understanding of TCP/IP, networking and Firewall concepts
  • Understanding of Windows Server and Active Directory administration.
  • Some knowledge in Microsoft AX, Citrix and Sharepoint is a plus.
