Description

My client is a world leader in luxury automotive manufacturing.

This role is based partly at their amazing Research and Development facility at the University of Warwick and also Gaydon.

My client understands that there is currently an increasing global requirement to advance and improve vehicle communications technology and connectivity features.

To enable my client to keep at the forefront of these developments, they require a Research Engineer Team Leader to pro-actively drive projects and push advanced communications features through a Prince2 style delivery system for the next generation of vehicles.

This role will require a highly motivated individual who is balanced between project and technical knowhow, capable of enthusiastically working with multiple cross functional teams to deliver the required features and resolve potential issues or overcome delivery resistance throughout the project development process.

The role will involve multiple aspects of project delivery including idea generation, proof of concept development, requirements capture, functional safety analysis and feature testing.

Also to lead a small team (1-2 persons) to support the project(s).

The successful candidate will be expected to travel between sites; Warwick University and Gaydon (approx. 50:50) to provide regular management and team lead updates on project progress therfore must hold a valid UK driving license.

Your background and experience should consist of and be clearly demonstrated on your CV:
Capable of forming strong working relationships with cross functional teams and delivering projects in the face of significant push-back.

Ability to act, make independent decisions on the spot, but follow-up analysis with the rest of the team is essential.

A sufficiently high technical understanding to enable regular discussions on a range of automotive technologies with their respective subject matter experts.

Experience working with a solid framework style project delivery system.

Experience working in an automotive environment

Understanding of interior vehicle design (CAN, ECU architecture etc.) or at least be sufficiently skilled in system design and analysis to quickly develop this

Be able to actively contribute to feature/idea design and generation processes.

Solid of understanding of communications technologies down to a standards level (eg ETSI 802.11p). While this is not essential, a successful candidate will at least be able to demonstrate a capability to quickly gain an understanding of the communications environment, including advanced technology such as DSRC or 5G.Knowledge of any other automotive area that the communications system will interact with such as ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems), Infotainment etc.

Any experience of working on V2X communications features, Advanced Driver Assistance Features (ADAS) such as adaptive cruise control, traffic systems would be amazingly beneficial.
