Contract Length: to
Minimum Security Clearance Level Required: BPSS (DS) - Baseline Personnel Security Standard (with a Disclosure Scotland)

Experience:
* Ability to clearly extract and understand real user needs from a variety of research methods. Including ethnographic studies, usability testing, surveys, interviews, site metrics and analytics.
* Translate user needs into the design of applications and services.
* Design and prototype user journeys, interfaces and interactions. Simplify complex transactions and explain clearly to non-designers the reasons for design choices.
* Working closely with user researchers to actively input to research plans, create personas, assist with testing and analysing research results.
* Work with other designers to create a library of standard design patterns and promote its use across digital services
* Experience of working in an agile project team
* Experience of design using GDS standards.
* Experience developing new functionality and services within an online or business.

Specialist Skills/Knowledge:

* Experience with HTML5, JQuery, JavaScript
* Experience planning and executing a variety of research methods, including ethnographic studies, usability testing (in a variety of environments), surveys, interviews, site metrics and analytics.
* Technical expertise in prototyping, wireframing, problem framing, user research, and data visualisation
* Experience of designing user journeys, aligned with SEO guidelines, information architecture and content maps
* Track record of working on projects delivering, effective solutions across multiple channels/platforms
* An understanding of how the technical aspects of accessibility and usability need to be applied to digital services
* Demonstrate empathy towards a varied base of users
* Ability to communicate design concepts to a wide range of audiences
