Description
We are looking for a proven Data Scientist for a 3 month initial contract - this is a long term programme with expectation that the contract will roll for at least 18 months. Must have experience with Natural Language Processing (NLP)
In this role, you will be handling the following (but not limited to) responsibilities:
- Provide Expertise in big data analytics with a focus on Natural Language Processing (NLP)
- Selecting features, building and optimizing classifiers using statistical approaches and machine learning techniques
- Monitor the teams overall progress within all aspects of their programs and projects, as well as proactively responding to any risks or issues, which may arise.
- Create/Contribute to new the creation of new innovation project proposals including the pre socialisation with stakeholders, the creation of business cases, cost and revenue projections.
- Manage multiple concurrent initiatives and projects of varying sizes and complexity
- Create new maintain existing partner and vendor relationships.
- Effective upward and downward communication on all notable progress to all key stakeholders
Knowledge/Experience
- Doctorate Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Math, or related disciplines.
- Experience of applied research, experimental development and early design activities to validate/invalidate ideas with a focus on analysing and manipulating data.
- Extensive experience of natural language processing experience through research and applied projects
- Extensive experience in delivering machine learning algorithms that are used at scale in Production environments to deliver Natural Language Processing (NLP)-based products and services.
- Extensive experience tackling problems involving Big Data, eg, using the Apache Spark/Hadoop stack.
- Solid and proven background and experience with Python, R, Java or Scala for large scale data analytic
- Proficiency with SQL and NoSQL environments.
- Excellent presentation and communication skills to explain results and methodologies to non-technical stakeholders.

- Strong Natural Language Processing skills - entity/relation extraction, normalization, summarisation, word/paragraph/document embedding, ranking, question answering, text/sentiment classification, etc.
- Strong programming skills (such as Hadoop MapReduce or other big data frameworks, Java), statistical modelling (lR).
- Proficiency in statistical analysis, quantitative analytics, forecasting/predictive analytics, multivariate testing, and optimization algorithms.
