Database Developer - 12 months + Contract - Brussels - €385 a day

A large European institution based in Brussels are seeking a Database Developer to join them on a long-term contract basis, with extensions very likely.

The successful candidate will form part of the services team who are responsible for developing and maintaining existing applications and functionalities, as well as consolidating projects into integrated systems that support the overall business

The Database Developer will be responsible for the design, implementation and maintenance of database layer, multi-tiered applications. You will play an important role in the configuration and optimisation of the client's database, as well as its integration with various applications.

As the Database Developer, your duties will also include, but won't be limited to:
  • Execution of database test programs
  • Definition and integration of database components
  • Physical database design
  • Writing of technical documentation
  • Assistance with deployment and configuration of the Database
  • Participation in meetings with project teams
Skills & Experience

It is essential that the Database Developer has a combination of relevant higher studies and significant professional IT experience. You will have in depth knowledge of SQL and relational database systems, as well as exposure to modelling database tools within an application development environment.

As the Database Developer, you will also have:
  • Experience of database and web development with Java
  • Experience with Oracle and PL/SQL
  • Experience of developing Web services
  • Knowledge of the design and development of web and multi-tier web applications, particularly within the Java framework
  • Knowledge of Life ray portal administration and custom development
  • The ability to participate in multi-lingual meetings, ease of communication.
  • The capability to integrate within an international/multi-cultural environment
The working language for this role is English, however fluency in French and/or German is highly beneficial.
