Description

Templeton & Partners are seeking a dedicated and results-orientated SQL and Oracle database developer/administrator to join the Technology and Support department on a temporary basis.

The main objective of the role is to ensure that the data loads and database related applications are running optimally and smoothly for our key systems at all stages of the service life cycle.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS
Determining the optimal SQL query plan for our key systems and SQL queries involved in data loads
Monitoring data loads, system capacity, database sessions, expensive queries, availability and performance, identifying and addressing negative trends and troubleshooting logs
Automating repetitive tasks using any Scripting language and integrating with operations and monitoring tools
Working closely with application support team for the resolution of incidents and problems affecting key systems
Supporting development team and recommending best practices, and helping developers to optimise SQL queries
Coordinating business role engineering with system management for the identity and access management project
Designing database monitoring reports using SQL Server Reporting services (SSRS)

MAIN QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS REQUIRED
University degree in Information Computing or other relevant field with strong academic records
Minimum three years' experience as DBA or developer with Microsoft SQL server and Oracle database
Demonstrated experience in SQL query tuning is essential
Proficient in T-SQL or PL/SQL query language and experience with PowerShell Scripting (Perl or Python is a benefit)
Experience with SQL Server Analysis services and any NoSQL products
Strong ITIL knowledge and demonstrated experience in capacity, availability, performance management
Excellent collaboration and communication skills with a high level of proficiency in written and spoken English
