DESCRIPTION:
The Senior Guidewire Developer will be responsible for the development, operation, support and maintenance of Guidewire systems.
The Senior Guidewire Developer will partner with key stakeholders, testing and development teams to create application architecture, design, code and unit test codes. This role will be responsible for designing, configuring, and testing the Guidewire suite and will conduct technical designs and code reviews.
SKILLS:
- 10 years of proven experience within insurance (policies, claim processing, worker compensation is an asset)
- 7+ years as a hands-on Guidewire developer.
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math or equivalent
- Certification(s) in any of the following Guidewire Modules:
ClaimCenter
PolicyCenter
DataHub
InfoCenter
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Analyze and define moderately complex business requirements for a solution
- Develop functional specifications
- Participate in overall design of integration in conjunction with experts on the target systems
- Demonstrate capability of adopting new technologies and procedures and contribute to improving existing procedures
- Use strong analytical and problem-solving expertise to perform complex analysis of data and develop Business Intelligence integration designs
- Design and develop integration components, including plug-ins, messaging and supporting business rules
- Optimize data integration to provide optimal performance under increasing data volumes
- Contribute to the design and execution of data integration standards according to the organization's policies as well as best practices
- Maintain moderately complex data modelling and make recommendations for extending data model based on requirements
- Provide regular status and statistical reports for management use
- Develop unit and integration test cases as part of integration and code development and verification
- Perform unit testing and resolve defects
- Conduct code and integration review and walkthrough
- Follow prescribed Development Lifecycle methodology used by IT
REQUIREMENTS:
- 5+ years experience in Scripting language
- 5+ years technical experience in development using JavaScript, Java, C# or similar language
- 5+ years experience in systems integration and SOA
- 5+ years experience working with SQL
- Experience with XML
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong ability to debug system issues and resolve defects
- Experience in production support with strong analytical skills to identify and address production issues
- Experience in modern integrated development environments, such as Eclipse and rapid application development
- Experience with code management tools and code merges
- Experience with technical documentation, Microsoft Visio, MS Project, SharePoint, TFS Team Foundation Server
- Experience with Visual Studio Team System
- Knowledge of Agile methodology an asset
