Description

We are looking for a Solution Architect to work at our multinational client in The Hague

Expected tasks and deliverables by the Consultants

  • Acts as the overall architecture lead for the mentioned project, owning the end-to-end definition of the solution for the project across all architecture layers: business, information, application, and infrastructure;

  • Structure and complete business demand from an architecture perspective, and translate the demand into a viable, feasible, durable, and compliant solution architecture that can be delivered to budget, on time and to the required quality;

  • Responsible for the production of the Solution Architecture Document for the project, integrating all architecture layers;

  • Support the project managers/technical project managers in delivering a solution that adhere to the principles, policies and patterns established in the enterprise architecture;

  • Adhere where appropriate to the overall enterprise architecture through the delivery of solutions, solution architectures and models, design patterns, principles, models, requirements, standards and policies of EA and/or security. Deliver the Project Scope Architecture document;

  • Propose solution alternatives to business automation needs that are not supported by standard solutions, presenting the merits and disadvantages of each. Draft the technical specifications for the customisation or application development based on the product descriptions and the business requirements;

  • Design, support coding, test, correct and document customisations and developments;

  • Perform Architecture reviews to verify that the solution to the business problem is integral and will deliver the required functional and non-functional requirements in line with stated architecture direction;

  • Consistently apply principles that guide solution decisions for business change and infrastructure projects, in collaboration with other solution architects and under the guidance of the Enterprise Architecture & Innovation directorate;

  • Define roadmaps for architectural changes and capability platform strategies;

  • Determine the potential impact of industry and market trends in the respective area, and make recommendations for changes and improvements;

  • Develop Proofs of Concept as proposals to answer Architecture concerns;

  • Manage technical design issues and key decisions escalated during project execution and take responsibility for resolving these issues;

  • Manage Non-Functional Requirements to support the business requirements and being accountable for the system to comply with those requirements;

  • Take ownership of required architecture governance deliverables and deliver results against respective timelines.

Educational and experience

  • University degree with minimum 8 years hands on experience in defining the architecture of large IT systems

  • Knowledge of TOGAF and Archimate

  • Previous system development life cycle and development experience;

  • In depth expertise in the area of systems integration;

  • Experience in working in large organisations;

  • Knowledge in Business Process Management and Rules engines (for instance JBPM, Drools);

  • Experience with UML;

  • Experience with similar projects;

  • Knowledge in Front End technologies (Javascript, Angular2);

  • Deep understanding of authorization mechanisms supporting fine-and coarse-grained authorisation and externalisation of authorisation from business applications (Kerberos and SPNEGO).

  • Expert knowledge of J2EE technologies.

  • Expert knowledge of REST architectural constraints and development of Restful web services.

  • Knowledge of SOAP web services.

  • Knowledge in Middle-tier (web-services, web clients, Back End of web clients, Java, JBoss).

  • Experience with externalising authorisation from Java applications through authorisation engines and/or business rules engines and authentication single sign on with Active Directory.

  • Basic knowledge in the following Mainframe software (Z/OS, MVS, OMVS, batch, CICS, MQ Series, DB2, Cobol).

  • Experience in the area of data bases, relational and non-SQL;

  • Ability to create and maintain technical documentation.

  • Good Communication skills, interpersonal skills and analytical skills.

  • Being active in a multi-cultural environment, the Contractor's staff shall have a very good level of English (oral and written).

  • The knowledge of German and French will be of added benefit.
