Empiric are currently looking for a Quantitative Analyst to work at a large banking client of ours to work within their Front Office function supporting Traders.

The Front Office Solutions department (FOS) supports the trading, sales and risk departments across all asset classes in London, New York, Hong Kong, and Singapore.

FOS-QRD is a team charged with the development of models, pricing tools and system integration of all exotic models used in the firm, on all asset classes. Their products support the trading and risk functions of several different desks via in-house developed applications run on traders' desktops, compute grids and external cloud compute fabrics. This role is based on the London trading floor.

Main purpose of the role:

FO quants are fundamentally changing the end user trading application. A key objective is to meet the MiFID II regulation for all desks. As a result of the new regulation FO quants must upgrade the pricing infrastructure. Specifically, the goal is to streamline the business flow for sales and traders.

The main purpose of the role is to change FO end user pricing applications.

Key responsibilities:

  • Understand complex trading and regulation requirements. Ask the right questions. Share knowledge
  • Translate requirements into concrete changes - C# for computation, Excel for data visualisation
  • Discuss changes with quants, IT, traders and project managers

Skills and experience:

Required:

  • Capability to knowledgeably interact with quants and traders on advanced financial issues. The minimum is to be able:
  • To describe how a swaption works and other basic flow products.
  • To describe which risks a trader would want to see for basic products.
  • One or more of the following:
  • Advanced C# skill set (eg understands how to call Java from C#), OR
  • Strong Excel skill set and strong flow quant understanding (eg detailed understanding of curve construction).
  • The candidate must demonstrate she/he can be trusted to develop robust systems that are compliant with modern trading and regulatory requirements.

The following skills and attributes are not required but will be viewed positively:

  • Ex-trader with strong technical skills
  • The understanding of a larger product scope (eg structured products)
  • A very strong quantitative understanding
  • Deep understanding of a regulation: Dodd Frank, MiFID II, FRTB, SoX or other.
