The senior java engineer will be highly motivated, diligent, and able to work closely with your development team members to complete stories as part of an Agile process.
This role represents a valuable opportunity to gain experience of working in a high-functioning commercial Scrum/Agile environment.
Here are some relevant details about what's going on here at the moment:
- Flexitime: core hours 10:00-16:00, 37,5 hr/wk
- Huge amount of work required on greenfield systems
- Good mathematical skills would be an advantage, since they are using some complex and very fun maths in our latest systems.
Responsibilities
The senior java engineer will be designing and developing high-quality, low-latency and scalable applications for our their platform, providing guidance to members of the Dev Team and supporting the work of the Technical Architect and Scrum Master.
You will:

Collaborate with other members of the Dev Team to achieve the sprint goals -
Contribute to all phases of the development lifecycle -
Write well designed, efficient code and mentor members of the Dev Team to achieve this goal -
Ensure designs are in compliance with specifications -
Prepare and produce releases of software components -
Support continuous improvement by investigating alternatives and technologies and presenting these for architectural review -
Provide informed, clear input to the design process
Requirements

Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related subject -
Proven working experience in Java or Scala -
Knowledge of the JavaScript language including ES6 -
Experience of client-side JavaScript frameworks, preferably ReactJS -
Solid understanding of HTML5 and CSS3 -
Practical exposure to JavaScript build tools and delivering web apps to production. -
Object Oriented analysis and design and 'Clean Code' -
Good knowledge of Relational Databases -
Experience in developing web applications using at least one popular web framework
