C/C++ Developer With Pascal/OpenVMS/Unix/Linux

C/C++ Developer With Pascal/OpenVMS/Unix/Linux required for a project with a globally operating business based in Helsingborg, Sweden.

Duration: 26-Feb--Sep-2018 - preferably. With extension options thereafter.

Background
MHS is the main application for the stores and is being used in 342 stores today and ~500 stores 2020. The company are about to embark on a journey to migrate a critical Legacy system named MHS from Pascal/OpenVMS/OracleRDB to C++/Linux/Oracle 12 and at the same time replacing existing terminal based UI-screens with a modern web-UI. They are working according to agile principles and you will be part of one of four agile teams working in three week sprints. MHS is a Retail Logistics service which provides the company's stores with functionality for goods handling, customer picking, sales location management and forecasting. Experience from retail and/or logistics is valuable.

The scope of the consultant services is to assist the company in:
System Developer in MHS Development Centre, more specific in the Tech Team. Many of the tasks in Tech Team are connected to a Code migration project where an external company assists the company with automatic migration of millions of lines of Pascal source code to C++.

The main tasks in the assignment will be/a day at work will look like:
The Tech Team developers work as functional experts in this project. Expert knowledge of compilation and linking of Pascal and C++ is needed. The Tech Team consists of two developers today. The task also includes Development framework improvements in MHS. As developer you assist your colleagues in three cross functional development teams when there are issues with compilation and linking of feature changes.

Requirements:Knowledge
You are a developer with experience from
C/C++/Pascal/OpenVMS/Unix/Linux.
Experience from both procedural and Object Oriented languages will be useful.
You have worked with SQL and database programming.
Experience from large Legacy applications in complex system landscapes is needed.
Experience from the company's architecture and system landscape is beneficial.

Knowledge of the following technologies in the current solution is appreciated and will get you up to speed quicker:
OpenVMS, DCL Scripting, DecForms, OracleRDB.
As a person you are happy to share your knowledge and able to efficiently communicate with other development related roles in a cross functional team.
You have experience from and enjoy working according to agile principles.
We are on our way to switch from waterfall to agile ways of working. Our development environment is not the newest, you need some patience in that area.
We will move to a new development environment with more modern tools. We are in the middle of a complex task to modernize the application, platform, working methods and development environment. This will not be a short journey and if you are open minded you can help us to make this transition easier.
