Software Engineer (Database) - Contract - Qatar - Market Rates

Essential Key Skills:

  • Oracle PL/SQL database development
  • Knowledge of database administration experience
  • Data analysis
  • Familiar with GIT SCM

Desirable Skills:

  • RedHat/CentOS 6 experience
  • Knowledge of Scripting languages including python, bash and Shell
  • Performance tuning/query optimisation
  • Familiar with JIRA and Confluence
  • Familiar with Jenkins CI
  • Familiar with RPM (RedHat Package Manager)
  • Use of test driven/behaviour driven development processes
  • Data design/architecture
  • Ability to manipulate and report data in Excel

Main Tasks:

  • Developing packages to extract source data and perform data aggregations; utilizing scripted queries
  • Innovative development and test of ETL routines
  • Optimisation/performance tuning of queries where required
  • Plans or implements migration of data or operations between database products, versions or environments
  • Designs and documents, or validates, the data access mechanisms to guarantee that transactions are processed reliably and data is efficiently stored and retrieved
  • Delivers code and configured Middleware, as well as supporting artefacts, which fulfil supplied requirements
  • Exploits appropriate methods, languages, libraries, tools, and techniques and applies these to engineering tasks to realise the most effective outcome
  • Ensures that all artefacts are produced to defined standards where standards exist, and to withstand professional scrutiny in any case
  • Works as a member of an engineering team, collaborating with other team members, and participates in technical discussions and conversations with customers
  • Produces or validates the schedule and effort estimate for each task they perform
  • Demonstrates skill and adeptness in team collaboration, technical discussion and negotiation
  • Ensures that high quality and delivery standards are met and consistently delivers quality code on time and within estimate
  • Working in an Agile environment
