GENERAL SUMMARY
A highly motivated professional to work on the support, analysis, re-design, coding and testing of relational databases that support FX financial applications.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
This is a Sybase developer position for someone familiar with Sybase ASE, and with basic Sybase database administrator skills running on a Solaris/Linus platform. Candidate must be proficient in UNIX commands and Scripting. Candidate must also have a ready knowledge of stored procedures and triggers; with good debugging and investigative skills in Sybase and Oracle database. There will be a lot of communication required outside of IT, ie with various business units within FX. Need someone who is flexible and willing to take on whatever work is required; including investigating new database platforms.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Produce logical data models that model the trading of various financial instruments.
Translate logical data models into a physical database design with emphasis on performance.
Work alone or with team members on coding stored procedures and trigger (in T-SQL); as well as other programming tasks as defined by the overall system architecture or other specifications.
Develop and implement test plans.
Provide secondary production database support.
Complete projects as assigned by management.
Work with FX application manangers on the redesign of the current trading database

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE
Solid experience with Sybase ASE, Oracle in a Unix environment, specifically Solaris/Linux
Solid UNIX Scripting knowledge
Solid SQL coding skills: stored procedure, triggers, etc
Basic understanding of Sybase replication for distributed databases
Strong understanding of database design and implementation using SQL DDL and DML
Experience with ETL [extract/transfer/load], a plus
Sybase and UNIX admin skills, a plus
Familiar with database access via JAVA/C-Sharp, a plus
Financial Industry experience, a plus
