Description:

  • The IS Programmer Analyst position will be located at Amgen's headquarters in Thousand Oaks, CA primarily responsible for providing IS services for the Observational Research business capability. This business capability plays a vital role in support of Amgen's innovative real-world evidence approaches.
  • As part of these innovative approaches, Amgen has built a Real-World Data (RWD) Platform for delivering real-world evidence. This Hadoop-based platform houses real-world data (electronic medical records and claims data), standardizes the data into an industry standard data model, and analyzes and visualizes the data to support clinical trial enrollment, disease profiling, patient forecasting, and product support.

  • Analyst skills - experience gathering requirements, designing, developing, testing, deploying, and maintaining solutions
  • Technical expertise - Hadoop database and AWS cloud platform
  • Domain expertise - Understanding about real-world data (claims/electronic medical records) or OMOP data model is a plus

DAY TO DAY RESPONSIBILIES/FIRST 30 DAYS

  • The IS Programmer Analyst is responsible in making the data available to business users. This process includes extracting and transforming the data into various data formats, loading the data into the RWD Platform, performing QC on the data, and automating processes to ensure data refreshes and standard visualizations are available to business users faster.
  • The incumbent will work in an agile team and will be assigned tasks based on the priorities of the Product Owners.
