The Opportunity

Templeton & Partners is looking for Full Stack Developer to join one of our international clients in San Francisco.

The Task

We're looking for a Full Stack Developer with a keen eye for usability, scale and speed to join the Digital Businesses team that brings together the greatest engineering, commercial and entrepreneurial talent to work on its upcoming ventures. Your job will be to work on these products across the entire tech stack. You will work with databases, distributed systems, microservices, message bus/queues, and Front End user interfaces.

Some of your key activities will include:

  • Develop highly scalable microservices and APIs
  • Develop user-friend interfaces and dashboards
  • Write unit and integration tests
  • Build instrumentation and metrics for monitoring and alerting systems
  • Document your work
  • Research and implement new technologies to solve specific product asks
  • Understand the end-to-end product vision and commercial model for each venture and be able to evangelise it
  • Work in Tandem with the business product team to ensure creation of clear technical design and product backlog
  • Oversee the full project cycle, from the development phase, to the delivery phase and through to the operational phase.

About the ideal candidate:

Our client is looking for you to have experience and skills in:

  • Degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience as a developer
  • Strong fundamentals including an understanding of data structures, concurrent programming
  • Experience with Java Back End development in a production environment
  • Experience building scalable services supporting mobile and web clients
  • Familiarity with Front End development using modern JS frameworks such as React
  • Experience with relational databases and nosql/distributed databases, with understanding of tradeoffs
  • Familiarity with Hadoop, Spark or other distributed data processing system
  • Experience with chef/ansible/puppet/jenkins/other devops tools
  • Experience with Docker, Mesos, SDC or similar container technologies
  • Familiarity with nosql databases such as MongoDB a plus
  • iOS/Android Cross-Platform mobile development a plus
  • Agile project experience.
  • Demonstrated learning agility in ambiguous and unfamiliar situations.
  • Familiar with and able to adhere to project management methodologies and tools (eg JIRA, Trello, Slack et al.)
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to convert static designs to functional prototypes.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Understanding of demand side management including demand response and distributed energy resources
  • Working familiarity of typical utility and/or power trading IT stack
  • You have experience in managing project teams or departments in an international set-up
  • Experience with Agile/SCRUM methodologies for product development
  • Experience in an early stage company
  • Track record for being detail-oriented with a demonstrated ability to self-motivate and follow through on projects
  • Experience developing and maintaining Wordpress websites
  • Good knowledge of at least one MV Js framework such as AngularJs, BackboneJs, ReactJS, etc.;
  • Public Social APIs (Facebook, twitter, flickr, youtube, etc.);
  • Experience with project deployment/build tools like Composer, Phing, Ansible;
  • Cross platform development with frameworks such as Phonegap (preferred) or Titanium;
  • CSS preprocessors (LESS/SASS);
  • TDD (Test Driven Development);
  • NOSQL Databases or Graph Databases;
  • Javascript frameworks and Node.js (ExpressJS, Meteor);
  • Linux CLI, Linux configuration/maintenance;
  • Understanding of Web Accelerator and Caching mechanism;
  • Experience with Continuous Integration (Jenkins, Bamboo);
  • Unit testing (Jasmine, QUnit)
  • iOS or Android development
  • Practical experience with Blockchain and Cryptocurrencies

Additional Information: The project will require significant amount of travel between San Francisco and Los Angeles
