Description

For my pharmaceutical client I am recruiting for a CAD/CFD Engineer who will assist in the development of detailed computer based schematics for manufacturing equipment and manufacturing processes

Responsibility:

With expert use of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software packages you will be responsible to:
  • Develop detailed computer-based schematics of Lab, Pilot and Production scale equipment (e.g. Reactors) based on available drawings using CAD software
  • To model manufacturing equipment and active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) manufacturing processes using CFD (including evaluating the effect of changing equipment parameters, such as geometry on the process)
  • Support project teams in defining the optimal equipment and API process setups based on the output and learnings from CFD models. Utilise available experimental data to refine the CFD models, including making recommendations for experiments to be performed based on the outcome from the CFD models.
  • You will be working in close collaboration with experimentalists in the laboratory and production scale. You must therefore possess great communication skills and fluency in English.

Requirements:
  • Basic experience with computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations and computer-added design (CAD) programs
  • Experience in Application of CFD to manufacturing of active pharmaceutical ingredients: OpenFOAM experience, mixing and particle simulations, stirred tank reactors, multi-phase flow, heat transfer calculations, python, C++, crystallization

BACKGROUND
  • Chemical/process/mechanical engineer, chemist, physicist, material scientist.
  • Education level: BS/MS or PhD or PostDoc, with or without subsequent professional experience
