Description

A Federal Government department is seeking the services of 2 Mobile application developers in Canberra.

Contract Period: July 2018 to 30 June 2019 (with 2*12 months possible extension options)

The services will include and not be limited to:

  • Developing mobile apps using a variety of programming languages and use their relevant Integrated Development Environments (IDE) for: Native iOS, Android or Windows Phone; Hybrid mobile app using Ionic or Cordova;
  • Developing and maintaining IT solutions;
  • Translating business requirements into function and technical specifications;
  • Providing technical advice and user documentation to relevant stakeholders;
  • Diagnosing issues and weaknesses in existing solutions;
  • Providing leadership and guidance to others;
  • Providing technical advice to junior developers

The successful candidate will possess the following skills/experience:

  • Developing mobile apps using a variety of programming languages and use their relevant Integrated Development Environments (IDE) for: Native iOS, Android or Windows Phone; Hybrid mobile app using Ionic or Cordova;
  • Proven ability to map requirements to appropriate technology;
  • Proven knowledge of industry technology developments and trends, and ability to apply that knowledge to specific Department initiatives;
  • Proven experience in all phases of the software development life cycle and strong understanding of agile concepts;
  • Demonstrated experience in the following: Swift, Java, or C#; HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, REST web services, JSON, XML; Source Code Management using Git; IDEs eg Xcode, Android Studio, Visual Studio, Atom; Build Management using Jenkins or Maven;
  • Detailed understanding of architecture methods and patterns;
  • Significant proven experience in developing cost effective solutions across various applications;
  • Proven reliability and proactive team player;
  • Possess strategic thought and strong leadership skills;
  • Demonstrated strong communication and consulting skills;
  • Demonstrated experience in producing online content that: is optimised for the web; complies with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG); complies with writing style guides; meets best practice industry standards for usability;
  • Experience in preparing information for a range of audiences;
  • Ability to apply plain English writing styles;
  • Experience with Cargo and Trade systems; (Desirable)
  • Experience with Biometrics or Identity systems. (Desirable)

The client requires the applicants to hold Australian Citizenship and Baseline clearance for this role.
