Description

Key accountabilities include:

  • Development, analysis and improvement of the high fidelity non-linear aircraft dynamic simulation based upon analytical, wind tunnel, CFD and flight test data.
  • System Identification (SysID) of aircraft dynamics based on the test data.
  • Development and validation of aircraft stability derivatives and aerodynamic data from multiple sources.
  • Stability and control analysis.
  • Development, documentation, and inspection of aerodynamic and system simulation models for the purposes of flight dynamics analysis.
  • Maintaining version control of the high-fidelity non-linear simulation and providing periodic releases to the other engineering groups.
  • Defining and improving the tools and processes associated with aircraft simulation and analysis.
  • Resolving design problems from the development and certification activities.
  • Supporting aircraft design, ground testing and flight testing activities, including the preparation of test plans, testing and data analysis to support the updating and validation of the aerodynamic model.

Key skills, knowledge and experience:

  • 1st Class undergraduate degree, or post-graduate degree (ideally in Aeronautical Engineering or any other Physical Sciences with an emphasis on simulation/control system design would be advantageous).
  • Proven work experience in fixed or rotary wing aircraft simulation development, in a Matlab/Simulink industrial environment.
  • Experience in aerodynamics and aircraft stability, control analysis.
  • Experience with configuration control and version control processes.
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
  • Ability to liaise with other technical systems design groups within the Company.
  • Ability to prepare technical documentation, including test plans, reports.
  • Proficiency with at least one programming language such as C, Microsoft .NET, Python
  • Proficiency with Matlab and Simulink.
  • Working knowledge of FAA and EASA certification requirements
