JOB DESCRIPTION

Purpose of Role

As part of a dynamic and well-established team, you will have the opportunity to write code and build functionality for some of Accord's biggest clients - providing innovative solutions to complex problems.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supplied with a technical brief to deliver defined/high-quality PHP digital development work within agreed "go live" deadlines/timescales/budgets.This will include regularly communicating progress and/or delays.
  • To write programming code, either from scratch or by adapting existing website software/graphics.Plus, to deliver feature upgrades and products that maximise site engagement and conversions.
  • To build functionality for new programmes, integrating with existing systems where required. This will include the maintenance and update of existing sites.
  • To ensure applications are coded securely, documented, tested and deployed in line with best practice.
  • Working with key stakeholders to develop new features and products based on specifications that may range from a detailed technical document to an outline concept.
  • Where appropriate, to liaise with other departments to obtain/check site content.This includes identifying, testing and resolving technical issues in a timely and efficient manner.
  • To input and maintain client records with accurate, high-quality information to keep an up-to-date knowledge of client activity.All conversations and transactions must be clearly documented.
  • To attend, prepare for and participate in one-to-one/ team meetings that will review/guide performance and (including appraisals), share ideas and initiatives, communicate objectives and agree plans/ focus.
  • To attend internal/ external training sessions as and when appropriate to increase skill set.You will also be tasked with maintaining an excellent knowledge of developing technologies and trends, as well as sharing best practice skills with colleagues.
  • To recognise the importance and benefits of effective team working, assisting colleagues and providing cover as and when required.Plus, maintaining effective communication links with other departments/teams/individuals across the business.
  • To act as an effective, professional ambassador for the company at all external events, conferences and presentations when required.
  • To undertake special projects and tasks as and when required.

Accredited qualifications

The successful candidate will be expected to be able to hit the ground running and ideally have a good working knowledge of php, html, CSS but ongoing development is a key part of the role with regular opportunities to learn from those around you and complete weekly training.

Level of Support

The intern will have a meeting with the team manager every two months in a 121 giving a formal opportunity to receive feedback and provide discussion points

The role will be based within the team with ad hoc access to the team manager freely available.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Attainments/Qualifications

No specific qualifications are required- many of our team do not have a degree in computing. However any formal qualification in computing and or coding is valuable to the role.

Skills and Understanding

This is our stack. Experience of any is advantageous, not all are required.

Prior Experience

Working in a team, working on own initiative, working on real or dummy client briefs.

Other Requirements

Graduate of a UK university within the last 3 years/Student at the University of Exeter

Right to work in the UK for the duration of the internship.

Key Dates

Closing Date: 06.08.18

Interview Date: week commencing 13th August, or the following week if better for candidates

Start Date: End of August, beginning of September but can be flexible

End Date: 18 months with an option to extend if all goes well on both sides.
