Description

GIS Developer
Morson are recruiting for a GIS Developer to join our client in Ispra, Italy.
For this role you will:
Design and development of marine geographic information systems and related tools (10%)
Setup of specific workflows for production and ingestion of data, and their quality control (5%)
Development of hydrodynamic models and assessment tools for the specified region (with GETM/GOTM/FABM model) (10%)
Application/validation of these hydrodynamic models for the specified region (15%)
Data production by performing the selected scenario simulations usingGETM/GOTM/FABM software for the specified region (20%)
Elaboration of data analysis and interpretation tools (Matlab/R/Python) (15%)
Statistical analyses and marine spatial visualisation (Matlab/R/Python) (15%)
Participation in project level meetings
Writing of technical and scientific reports/documents (10%)
You will require the following:
Bachelors Degree, min 3 years of higher studies after secondary school
9-11 years of professional experience in IT
Good knowledge in design and development of marine database and related tools
Good knowledge in design and development of geographic information systems
Good capability for development and application of hydrodynamic models for the specified region
Knowledge of Fortran programming language
Good capacity statistical analyses by using Matlab/R/Python
Good capacity in marine spatial visualisation
Good experience with environmental database and scientific data format (egNetCDF, HDF)
Very good capacity in preparing and writing technical documents in English
Capability of working in an international/multicultural environment, and the ability to participate in multi-lingual meetings is requested.
Specific expertise: Good knowledge of modelling tools, at least 8 years experience in development of marine models and assessment tools (experience with GETM/GOTM/FABM model system is essential).
