Description

A government department in Canberra seeking the services of Senior #Developer. The successful candidate will design, develop, unit test, implement and maintain systems and services.

The services will include and not be limited to:

Developing, maintaining and unit testing system components;
Identifying user needs and organisational outcomes, demonstrating how design decisions support these needs by developing successful, user focused services;
Ensuring that the design balances functional, service quality and systems management requirements, including meeting web and accessibility standards.
Working with departmental methodologies (eg project, service, release and change management) to maintain, support and review/upgrade existing capabilities;
Performing quality assurance checks of design, code and technical dependencies across multiple development components and streams;
Contextualising, conveying and exchanging information to create a shared understanding, presenting complex information in plain English;
Building and managing relationships with internal and external clients, stakeholders and service providers;

Mandatory/Essential Criteria:

Minimum 5+ years' experience working with #JavaScript technologies;

Experience with technologies and tools such as:
o React, Angular or Vue.js;
o DevExtreme;
o .NET;
o #Java;
o Typescript;
o MobX/Redux/Flux or any Javascript MVC frameworks (such as Backbone.js);
o Webpack;
o Node.js (Express or Restify);

Experience working in a Services Oriented Architecture (SOA) environment;
Experience with Web Services (SOAP-based and RESTful);
DBMS experience (Oracle, MySQL etc);
Demonstrated working knowledge of SQL;
Experience with designing, developing, supporting and maintaining capabilities in large complex ICT environments;
Extensive technical expertise working in production environments and projects with agile methodologies;
Demonstrated ability to quickly gain knowledge of other open source and COTS products/technologies;
Demonstrated analysis, design and development skills;
Ability to work as a member of an Agile development team and with business areas;
Ability to work autonomously and to provide technical expertise;
Good understanding of SDLC, release management, ICT change management and software development processes;
Proven experience with prioritising, scheduling, monitoring and reporting;
Excellent communication and decision making skills;
Experience with building and maintaining effective relationships;
Ability to deal with complex situations under pressure;
Possess effective conflict resolution skills

Desirable Criteria
Ability to work collaboratively to achieve successful outcomes;
Knowledge of the Department's policies, systems, environments and software configuration processes;
Knowledge of the accessibility, usability standards like WCAG 2.1, WAI-ARIA and Semantic HTML;
Experience with source code management software such as BitBucket, Git, Team Foundation Server (TFS).

The role requires the candidate to be an Australian Citizen and hold Baseline clearance prior to commencement.
