Description

The ETL Developer is responsible for the design, development, testing, debugging, maintaining and documenting software components in accordance to Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) best practices. The Developer has overall responsibility in the technical design process. Participates in the application technical design process and completes estimates and work plans for design, development, implementation, and rollout tasks. The Developer also communicates with the appropriate teams to ensure that assignments are delivered with the highest of quality and in accordance to standards. The Developer strives to continuously improve the software delivery processes and practices. Current tools and technologies used by the team include: Informatica, AIX/UNIX, Unix Shell Scripting (Sun Solaris or Linux), Oracle (indexing, partitioning, performance tuning, explain plans, materialized views etc.), SQL Scripting/Stored Procedures, Databases (DB2, Oracle)
Essential Job Functions:

  • Build partnerships across the application, business and infrastructure teams.

  • Develop programming specifications.

  • Design, code and unit test application code using Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) best practices.

  • Complete estimates and work plans with the assistance of more senior team members as appropriate for design, development, implementation and rollout tasks.

  • Create technical system documentation and ensure that this documentation remains current throughout all phases of the SDLC.

  • Communicate with the appropriate teams to ensure that assignments are managed appropriately and that completed assignments are of the highest quality.

  • Support and maintain applications utilizing required tools and technologies. Provide support for applications, including involvement with the Support Center, NOC, Infrastructure teams, and vendors as appropriate.

  • May assist other personnel on assignments including mentoring or providing on-the-job training to more junior associates.

Informatica

  • Advanced Informatica design and development skills using Informatica power center and power exchange. (10.1+ preferred)

  • 5+ years of experience in developing Informatica PowerCenter ETL mappings using Designer, Workflow Manager, Workflow Monitor, and Repository Manager

  • Experience using parameter files, parameters/variables and troubleshooting using advanced informatica techniques like session partitioning, push down optimization etc.

Oracle

  • 5+ years of experience in PL/SQL

  • 5+ years of experience in writing advanced queries for analysis and troubleshooting as needed.

  • Must be well versed with database concepts like indexing, partitioning, performance tuning, explain plans, materialized views

UNIX (Sun Solaris or Linux)

  • 3+ years of experience writing Shell Scripts.

  • Expertise in running jobs using various schedulers.

  • UNIX commands needed for running ETL jobs as well as for troubleshooting source and target files.

Datawarehousing

  • 5+ years' experience with data warehouse solution designs supporting data stores such as ODS, EDW and DataMart

  • 5+ years of experience with design of large scale ETL solutions integrating internal and external data sources

  • 5+ years of experience creating design documents like High Level and Low Level design documents.

  • Troubleshooting/resolving issues related to ETL applications, ETL system performance, and data integrity.

  • ETL design review, code review, and quality assurance review process and deliverables.

  • Designing audit solutions.

  • Data analysis to identify data issues.

Preferred Skills

  • Big Data (Hadoop, Mapreduce etc.) environment

  • NoSQL database like Cassandra, Mongodb, Hbaseetc

  • Data Lake using Amazon Elastic MapReduce (EMR)

  • Hive database and Hive tables
