Rate: £350 - £365per day, inside IR35
Sector: Higher Education
Start Date: ASAP
Length of contract: 5 months - until 10th December 2021
Location: Remote

PHP Web Developer contractor will be responsible for developing new functionality for university approved web content management systems, optimising page load times and performing essential system upgrades.

PHP Developer will be working across a range of technologies, systems and programming languages including PHP, HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, WordPress, Jadu, Funnelback, GIT, Azure Dev Ops.

The developer will be required to:

*Work on bugs, defects and enhancements raised for the Jadu and WordPress based university websites;
*Develop customisations for web content management systems such as Jadu and WordPress: write modules, plugins, create custom content types;
*Participate in stand-ups, sprint planning and sprint retrospective meetings;
*Produce high quality, maintainable code with web accessibility in mind.

The developer must have:

*Strong PHP development skills, ability to analyse, audit and improve existing code;
*Experience of working with Web CMS platforms such as Jadu and WordPress;
*Experience working with version control systems such as GIT;
*Experience of developing customisations for enterprise-level content management systems: modules, plugins, custom content types, Back End user interface customisations;
*Understanding of usability principles, Web Accessibility and GDPR regulations;
*Experience of writing system documentation including functional and system design specifications;
*Experience of working with testers;
*Strong initiative, with excellent organisational, planning and self-management skills, ability to work independently;

The developer could have:

*Experience of working with search engine platforms such as Funnelback and Apache Solr;
*Experience of complex system upgrades requiring planned downtime;
*Knowledge of Azure DevOps.
