A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Platform Engineer with a demonstrable previous ownership of large infrastructure in data centers and cloud to join a dynamic Insurtech organisation.
My client is a provider of innovative solutions to the insurance market by utilising digital technology to remove inefficiencies and speed up underwriting and brokerage processes, and they need a Platform Engineer to join their existing product team and build and configure cloud configurations on AWS - Cloud Computing Services, in particular install and configure new environments using automated tools.
This is a key role within the IT department.
This assignment is Inside of IR35.
Reporting to the Platform Engineering Dev Lead, you will be accountable for accountable for ensuring that my client's infrastructure is built and maintained in an effiecient and secure manner. You will also ensure timely feedback of monitoring and alerting to stakeholders, facilitate the appropriate communication channels among software delivery, BusOps roles and with Engineering stakeholders, and continuously improve the platform.
Key responsibilities:
- Build and configure cloud configurations on AWS - Cloud Computing Services, in particular install and configure new environments using automated tools.
- Automate management of all server components using Packer, Vault, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform.
- Document procedures and policies that relate to the IT systems you support in particular the application configuration.
- Support the software delivery process by identifying and providing appropriate pre-production environments, eg facilitation of performance testing.
Essential Technical Experience:
- Demonstrable previous ownership of large infrastructure in data centers and cloud
- Understanding of public clouds and hands on knowledge on building cloud based environments, particularly AWS and container orchestration
- Excellent communication skills, ability to work within cross-functional teams and delivery oriented
- Proven ability writing effective procedures and policies which can be used by other staff and are maintained within a review life cycle
Technical Skills Required:
- Infrastructure as Code using Terraform (AWS focussed)
- Kubernetes & Docker
- Observability using tools such as Prometheus and Grafana
- Coding/Scripting experience ideally Golang
- Comfortable with onboarding production teams onto a Kubernetes centric platform
