Database Admin/Developer

Whitehall Resources are currently looking for a Database Admin/Developer on a remote basis for an initial 6-month contract.

* PLEASE NOTE THIS ROLE HAS BEEN DEEMED INSIDE IR35.*

Role and Experience:
6 Years minimum experience, practical experience in database administration for Oracle/MS IaaS and PaaS Database Services.

To include NoSQL and Data Lake principles and best practice implementation practices. Provide the team with advice based on best practices relative to consumption of database services and partitioning strategies for management of large structured and unstructured data sets.

- Develop Ingest and Transform Data Processing Patterns
- Implement data security
- Monitor data storage and data processing
- Optimise and troubleshoot data storage and data processing
- Manage batches and pipelines
- Implement logical data structures
- Implement physical data storage structures
- Implement logical data structures
- Implement the serving layer
- Configuring Windows and Linux Virtual Machines

Essential Duties:
- Install and upgrade Oracle/SQL database Servers and associated tooling
- Manage service provisioning requests
- Allocate/Manage storage requirements for database services
- Modify tables and files structures from information given by system architects
- Back-up and restore databases
- Ensure compliance with security requirements
- Manage and maintain system access requirements
- Monitor and optimise database service performance
- Configure, Manage and monitor data replication redundant services (ie, Data Guard, SQL Transaction Logs)
- Generate SQL queries for team members, and provide data exports as required
- Single point of contact for database services within the project team
- Own and resolve technical issues with the vendor as required
- Liaise with team members
