Description

My client is looking for a DevOps Specialist for an initial 6 month contract with the potential to extend.
This role is inside of IR35 and will be based in Leeds but with remote flexible.

About this role

As a Senior Engineer within Platform Engineering you will be responsible for the development and implementation of framework solutions within the Chapter and across other Chapters and Tribes.

You'll have the following responsibilities
* Focusing on the development of the Chapter frameworks.
* Investigations and assessments into new technologies.
* Continually developing our Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery pipelines and tools.
* Actively getting involved in new Proof-of-Concept activities as directed by Principals and Leads.
* Assisting with the implementation of Tribe-based architectural solutions of their application hosting and integration with Chapter frameworks.
* Delivering optimisations of our end-to-end deliverables to maintain low levels of hosting costs.
* Working alongside more junior engineers to assist in their upskilling and development.
* Assisting in running regular workshops to update our engineering teams and further evangelise Cloud-first solutions.
* Working alongside engineers both on- and off-shore, to assist in delivery and optimisations of our solutions.
* Providing on-call support for the supported services as provided by the Chapter, including the production platforms.
* Implementing solutions as directed by the Technical Lead(s).
* Maintaining high standards of code quality and capabilities.
* Assist and aid in the development other engineers.
* Driving forwards automation practices.
* Continually advancing your own skills and capabilities.

* Proven record of delivery.

* Ability to take something from concept to delivery.
* Passion to learn.
* TDD and/or BDD frameworks and testing.
* Experience in Operational Support.
* Empathise with the customer's viewpoint.
* Be a good communicator.
* Collaborate with all teams, internal and external, to benefit the customer.
* Demonstrates awareness of main competitors.
* Encourages people to challenge and improve the way things are done to improve outcomes for the customers. Consider the why, the how and the what.
* Have a personal drive for change.
* Expertise in AWS, Amazon Linux, Terraform Packer, Jenkins, Python, Gitlab, Groovy
