In this Senior Site Reliability Engineer role you will be part of a DevOps & SRE function that is at the forefront of a large global organisations Digital & Cloud Transformation. The team uses modern methodologies to create innovative solutions for many teams across the development and engineering estate and follows flexible working practices and embraces a customer centric design thinking' delivery processes.
Working within the DevOps & SRE team the role will be focused on shaping/productising the SRE offering and mentoring SRE staff. Responsibilities will include ensuring production reliability is put foremost and preparing high-level solution documents, engaging with stakeholders and collaborating across functional teams; playing a key part in enabling the organisation's future-state business capabilities.
The successful Site Reliability Engineer will be proactively diagnosing problems with the ability to code a more permanent fix and/or engineering/rewriting failed or broken processes.
Key skills/experience required for the role:
- Experience in Team Management and training of DevOps teams to follow best practices in DevOps and SRE principles and procedures to minimize the number of errors and incidents.
- Experience in development using traditional languages such as Python, Java, JavaScript, and .NET, as well as newer, dynamic languages such as Node.js and Scala.
- Experience working with Linux and cloud computing systems
- Experience with testing frameworks and how to drive best results from their use
- Good understanding of Front End technologies, such as JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3
- Good understanding of Networking and OS concepts and OS
- Knowledge of user authentication and authorization between multiple systems, Servers, and environments
- Understanding of fundamental design principles behind a scalable application
- Understanding of the differences between multiple delivery platforms, such as mobile vs desktop, and optimizing output to match the specific platform
- Able to create database schemas that represent and support business processes
- Strong unit test and debugging skills
- Usage of CICD processes including the integration of security & quality tooling
- Proficient understanding of code versioning tools
- Improves documentation all around, either in application documentation, or in runbooks, explaining the why, not stopping with the what.
- A background in building and testing code as well as in operations.
