Working with a leading Security, DevSecOps and DevOps focused consultancy to secure the services of a DevOps engineer for a global energy client based in London.

Job Description

The DevOps & SRE function at the forefront of the client's Digital & Cloud Transformation. The team uses modern methodologies to create innovative solutions for many teams across the clients development and engineering estate. The team follows flexible working practices and embraces a customer centric design thinking' delivery processes. The team aims to enable the client to innovate without barriers using a mix of emergent technologies.

Working within the DevOps & SRE team the DevOps Engineer role will be focusing on delivering engineering to assist in the delivery of DevSecOps components, accelerators and CICD pipelines within the DevOps & SRE product team. The aim of the product team is to assist BP application delivery teams in delivering secure and compliant applications throughout the software delivery life cycle.
You will be a highly capable technical resource working within a mixed agile squad within the DevOps & SRE Product team.

The successful candidate will be a technical, focused, structured and active participant in the delivery process. You will exhibit the ability to delivery with an emphasis on high quality innovative solutions. You must be able to communicate & collaborate closely within your squad, product owner and larger team.

1 - 2 days a week in office

Responsibility

The candidate will:

  • Have experience in being an DevOps Engineer
  • Expert level engineering in CICD pipelines in Azure DevOps & Jenkins
  • Experience of Cloud Engineering in Azure/AWS
  • At least 2 years of experience in Python
  • Gather and analyse metrics & telemetry to assist in performance/fault finding
  • Writing reusable, testable, and efficient code
  • Performing an in-depth analysis of the possible risks and countermeasures for them
  • Measure and optimize system performance, with an eye toward pushing our capabilities forward, getting ahead of customer needs, and innovating to continually improve
  • Mentor customers in SRE guidelines and procedures to minimize the number of errors and incidents
  • Partner with development teams to improve services through rigorous testing and release procedures
  • Direct involvement with clients to gather requirements and deliver top quality service
  • Improve reliability, quality, and time-to-market of our internal products and tooling.
  • Must view problems as an opportunity to improve

Requirements

  • Experience in working within DevOps engineering teams using DevOps & Agile methodologies.
  • Usage of CICD processes including the integration of security & quality tooling
  • Proficient understanding of code versioning & DevOps tools and processes
  • Experience in YAML, Python and other standard DevOps tool sets
  • Experience working with Linux & Windows cloud platforms AWS & Azure
  • Experience with testing frameworks and how to drive best results from their use
  • Understanding of security & quality compliance toolsets and processes
  • Knowledge of user authentication and authorization between multiple systems, Servers, and environments
  • Understanding of fundamental design principles behind a scalable application
  • Understanding of the differences between multiple delivery platforms, such as mobile vs desktop, and optimizing output to match the specific platform
  • Strong unit test and debugging skills
  • Shares the learnings publicly in a way that can that provide context for anyone to understand it
  • Improves documentation all around, either in wiki & application documentation, or in runbooks, explaining the why, not stopping with the what.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
