Lead API Designer sought by leading financial services organisation based in the city of London.
*Inside IR35 - 2-3 days a week onsite*
As an API designer you will help build our strategically important API offering in segments such as payments, corporate-to-bank, securities or trade finance. The APIs you design will be used by world-leading banks, corporates and other financial institutions.
As an API designer, you will have a key role in the creation of new API products. You will own the delivery of API designs and act as a technical authority and design consultant.
Responsibilities:
- Own the design of APIs using the OAS 3.0 standard
- Improve APIs produced by other product teams through consultancy and review
- Contribute to the architecture of new API products and ensure feedback from customers is implemented
- Help us maintain an industry-leading best practice in API design, by contributing to technical guidelines and helping our developer community understand and use them
- Be the contact for our business teams for anything API, supporting them throughout the product life cycle
- Contributing to the API strategy, development life cycle, governance and standards,
- Promoting API design standards and best practices through the company by providing trainings and workshops
Key skills required to be successful in this role:
- Primarily, we are looking for technical knowledge of APIs.
- Must have hands-on experience in software development for web APIs, or Hands-on experience in designing web APIs
- Demonstrate working knowledge of APIs (REST APIs, OAS 3.0/2.0 JSON, secure network communication and API security frameworks such as OAuth 2.0) Are able to explain complex concepts in a simple way to business and technical audiences Must have at least 3+ years of experience working on API.
- Show a deep understanding of the software development life cycle
