Description
Backend Developer (Java/Kotlin) required to work with a Government department. This is an initial 6 month contract, paying £600 per day, inside IR35, remote working.
As a Senior Backend Developer (Java/Kotlin) you will support and build new features of a new service being built.
Our software engineers are a member of multidisciplinary teams, they write code and operate software. They work with user researchers, product managers, designers, business analysts, delivery managers and content specialists who share a vision for making better government through smarter use of technology. We innovate to radically transform public services for the better.
The strategic language and framework for building Back End services are Kotlin and Spring Boot, however we still support a number of Back End services using Java and Spring boot.
Full Tech stack includes:
*The Cloud platform (built on AWS) is our strategic hosting provider
*We use Kubernetes and Docker to schedule and run our services
*We use Github to store and manage our code
*We use CircleCI to build our software and use a CircleCI Orb to standardise our approach
*We use HMPPS Auth as our strategic Authentication solution
*We use Azure Application Insights for our Application and performance monitoring and logging
*Sentry/Prometheus for application monitoring
*Elastic/Kibana for Data visualization
*We build our Back End services in kotlin
*We build our Front End Server Side applications in Typescript using the GOV.UK Design System
*We have a bootstrapping tool for creating new projects
*Macs to do all of the above
