Role: Azure Big Data Developer (Contract)

Location: Remote

Duration: 6 months rolling

Key Essential Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of Modern Data Platform components on Azure including Data Lake Gen2, Synapse/DWH, SQL Server, Data Bricks, Data Factory, HD Insight and Power BI.
  • Good knowledge of Data Lake and Data Warehouse development.
  • Strong hands on experience of OLTP and OLAP Datamodelling techniques (eg 3NF, Dimensional Modelling)
  • Awareness of GDPR and the impacts this has on data processing.
  • Hands on experience in a range of delivery approaches (eg Waterfall, Agile, DevOps, RAD).

Desirable Skills:

  • Be able to design, develop and enhance an Azure Data Lake and Data Warehouse to support data analysis needs
  • Build upon existing data models to support the optimised provision of data products to customers.
  • Strong understanding of business processes, considering customer user stories to deliver products that support customer's needs.
  • Build a detailed understanding of existing data platform technologies, operational systems, and data flows to support industry and consumer needs.
  • Examine complex data, turning it into usable information and insight to help customers make informed business decisions.

Overview:

  • An exciting opportunity has opened for a Azure Big Data Developer to join us on a contract basic with an immediate start. The successful candidate will be part of a development squad building cloud applications in Big Data area for Xoserve and will be reporting to the Development Manager. Ideally the candidate will hold strong knowledge of Modern Data Platform components on Azure including Data Lake Gen2, Synapse/DWH, SQL Server, Data Bricks, Data Factory, HD Insight and Power BI.

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Add data to BDP to satisfy DDP's Future Roadmap
  • Identify tables necessary for the satisfaction of customer demand for future DDP enhancements eg, reconciliation data
  • Apply technical changes to the Azure Data Lake, enabling it to receive an increased amount of production data.
  • Support the technical design, build, test, and delivery of our enterprise data platform capability, following our software development life cycle (SDLC).
  • Drive forward initiatives that tackle the root cause of technical defects, helping to respond to queries in a timely manner.
