Functional Scala Engineer
Over the last three years we have cleanly rebuilt the platform from scratch, with a team highly proficient in pure functional programming, led by a PhD in theoretical computer science (and category theory in particular). The Back End is written in Scala + Cats and the Front End (web and apps) in React JS/React Native + Redux.
We are now growing our team to continue innovating and to expand the application of our platform beyond waste clearance and into other sectors (eg we built a new platform for HSS Hire in record time). We are looking for a Scala developer to become a crucial member of our team.
We expect that you:
have at least 1-year Scala (or Haskell) experience
exposure with Cats/Cats effect
have functional code you are proud of and can share before the interview
appreciate test automation
enjoy contributing to product and technical discussions
Experience with JS or app development is a bonus.
Our funky office is in Putney, London. Projects are managed in weekly sprints, using JIRA for tickets and GitHub for code repository, with detailed peer code reviews. During our (single, one-hour) interview you will have the opportunity to go through several levels of coding.
