You'll be working on replacing an old database monitoring system based on an oracle estate moving to a more cloud based model. Ideally you'll have experience of Oracle with Python, Django and groovy.

The Role

Our Global Technology Infrastructure group is a team of innovators who love technology as much as you do. Together, you'll use a disciplined, innovative and a business focused approach to develop a wide variety of high-quality products and solutions. You'll work in a stable, resilient and secure operating environment where you-and the products you deliver-will thrive.

As a Software Engineer you will help build a meaningful engineering discipline, combining software and systems to develop creative engineering solutions to operations problems. Much of our software development focuses on creating new applications, optimizing existing systems and reducing work through automation.

You'll join a team of curious problem solvers with a diverse set of perspectives who are thinking big and taking risks. In this environment you'll take the lead on relevant projects, supported by an organization that provides the support and mentorship you need to learn and grow.

Responsibilities:

  • Understand/apply reusable code design, leverage application architecture/framework capabilities and functionality, and design/develop solutions that are highly reliable, scalable, and perform to meet business-defined service levels.
  • Work with Product owners to help shape the direction of the product based on a combined knowledge of what's technically feasible and what is desired by the end user.
  • Conduct code reviews and ensuring quality solutions are built and tested.
  • Employ Agile engineering practices; Pair Programming, Continuous Integration, Test Driven Development, etc.
  • Identify and implement improvements to products.
  • Contribute to the technical code and design documentation.
  • Provide production support and issue triage for our products, taking end to end ownership of the quality of code delivered and user experience improvements via automations etc..

This role requires a wide variety of strengths and capabilities, including:

  • Proficient in Object Oriented programming languages, preferably Python and Groovy
  • Strong background in Relational Databases (Oracle or Microsoft SQL Server)
  • Experience of Web frameworks such as Django, React or Angular.
  • Knowledge of Powershell, Unix Shell Scripting & SQL.
  • Experience in application development preferably with Linux or Windows
  • Experience working in an Agile team, Scrum preferred and using tools such as JIRA, Confluence, GIT/Bitbucket & Jenkins.
  • Exposure to Micro service architecture, REST API design/development is highly desirable

*JP Morgan has decided that, following the government's covid guidance, you have the option to come into the office or work from home until things settle. Once safe to do so, you would then be required to come into the office 3 days per week. You would need your own PC/Laptop when working from home as these are not provided for contract roles.*
