Description

The Defence, Science and Technology Laboratory is seeking a Software Modeller to join their team in Salisbury.

Team: Ministry of Defence|Defence Science and Technology Laboratory|Platform Systems

Initial contracts will run for 11 months and offer a rate up to £452/day

IR35 STATUS: Inside IR35. This engagement has been assessed by the public body as Inside IR35 legislation. Candidates would be required to operate through an umbrella company on this engagement.

DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS: : at 12:00

This role requires Active SC (Security Check) clearance. Applicants require active SC clearance or the willingness to go through clearance before starting on site. Candidates with current clearance will be preferred. Candidates must be sole UK Nationals. DV Clearance would be preferred.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Tool Development
  • Writing code interfaces
  • Developing, implementing and running data analysis tools
  • Integration of test/hardware systems into fully synthetic models
  • Running synthetic-based models
  • Run M&S tools to support data analysis
  • Run M&S simulations and confirm quality of data output
  • Support technical seniors/supervisors in the provision of advice based on M&S output
  • Knowledge of model and simulations techniques to real-world scenarios
  • Good understanding of the physics behind sensors, dynamics, optics and lasers
  • Knowledge of model and simulations techniques to real-world scenarios
  • Good understanding of the physics behind sensors, dynamics, optics and lasers
  • Experience in simulation and the development of models
  • Experience in using the models and tools in order to provide evidence data
  • Experience in a number of different software languages and applications (predominantly Matlab, Simulink and C++)
  • Experience in the analysis and interpretation of outputs in support of advice
  • SC Clearance (minimum)

Highly Desirable Skills and Experience

  • Experience in analysis of complex and large datasets
  • The ability to apply a broad variety of analytical techniques to solve problems
  • Track record of delivering advice in a complex technical area with minimal oversight
  • Write, assure and document the code within models and analysis tools

Desirable Skills and Experience

  • Electro-optic (EO) domain knowledge and/or EO modelling experience (eg EO environments, EO Threat system understanding, EO countermeasure development)
  • Experience in simulation and the development of models in Simulink
  • Experience in Real Time, and faster than Real Time, software environments
  • Track record of reporting complex projects
  • Degree level or equivalent in a Science or Engineering discipline (eg Physics or Engineering, inc Software Engineering).
  • DV Clearance

Candidate Eligibility

Candidates must be eligible to work in the UK, this role will not offer Visa sponsorship. Tier 2 - General visas cannot be accepted. This role requires that candidates be willing to undergo BPSS (DS) Baseline Personnel Security Standard (with a Disclosure Scotland).
