Senior Engineering (Structures) - 6 month contract - Scotstoun - £38.88ph UMB or £29.15ph + £4.24 accrued in holiday PAYE (Inside IR35)
The Umbrella rate quoted above is the Gross Umbrella rate (ie the rate we pay to the Umbrella Company inclusive of ALL employment costs). Please note, the rate paid by the Umbrella will be less, as will a Limited Deemed rate or Agency PAYE rate. Please get in touch to discuss the rates via these different payment vehicles.

This role requires you to obtain a basic disclosure along with employment reference checks before starting.
The Role
- Perform linear-elastic FEA of steel structures as assigned.
- Using local sub-modelling techniques identify local stress issues and provide suitable design solutions.
- Undertake FEA of significant ship sections and apply multiple load cases in accordance with project guidelines.
- Structural solutions, calculations, design sketches and drawings supporting design and assessment tasks, specific to own discipline.
- Design and Assessment Studies
Essential Skills
- Typically Degree qualified, likely to be Naval Architecture or similar engineering related discipline
- Working towards the requirements for registration as Incorporated Engineer or Chartered Engineer with the Engineering Council.
- Able to perform analysis using recognised FEA tools, preferably Hypermesh and Abaqus.
- Knowledge and competence in ship structural design including the derivation of scantlings and major equipment seatings from first principles.
- Sound capability in general structural theory and analysis and its application to ship structures.
