Description
Tier 1 American investment bank is looking for a software developer to work on their strategic trade processing system. The role is using JVM based development using either Java, Scala, or Kotlin.
The business has significant growth targets for 2022 and beyond, which cannot be accommodated by the existing platform and they are looking through a wide-ranging overhaul of their technology platform - including moving from .NET to JVM/Linux/Kubernetes operating environment. They are primarily looking for a developer with experience working in a JVM environment so working with either Java, Scala or Kotlin
Knowledge/Experience:
- Background of delivering software using an iterative Agile approach.
- Track record of quality-led engineering using developer-led automated testing, CI/CD, micro-services, containerized deployment and Cloud engineering.
- Proven record of accomplishment in owning and driving successful delivery to business users.
- Comfortable dealing with product owners to understand requirements and explore solutions
- Ability to focus on multiple projects simultaneously
- Previous experience and knowledge of Swaps or Prime Brokerage desirable (but not essential).
Required Skills:
- Experience with JVM based development using Kotlin, Java or Scala. (at least 3 years)
- Test Driven Development.
- Ability to refactor code to improve quality, including readability & maintainability, whilst preserving behaviour.
- Experience and aptitude of Agile and DevOps approaches - eg continuous integration, test automation, frequent releases, containerization.
- Any experience with tools such as Jenkins, Elastic Stack, Kubernetes, OpenShift and Amazon Web Services would be beneficial.
Since this is an inside IR35 contract role candidates must have full working rights in the UK.
