Software Engineer (Full Stack, AWS Migration)
3 months contract (rolling) - REMOTE + occasional trips (Telford location) - £400 per day - Outside IR35
My client has a niche product range which is expanding borders and as such, they are moving to the Cloud to allow capability overseas and increase their product footprint. We now need a Full Stack Developer/Software Engineer with commercial AWS skills to join the team on this journey.
This involves Back End, Front End & system development:
- Backend - Developing and maintaining multiple systems, often based on an existing codebase. Essentially accepting connections from remote Embedded devices in the field and storing data to a database, then allowing retrieval for charting/processing/alarming etc. Backend is mostly based on PHP Symfony/Silex
- Frontend - Designing, developing and maintaining Front End web & hybrid mobile applications. Rendering charts, allowing device management etc. Technologies used include JavaScript, TypeScript, Cordova, Angular, AngularJS etc.
- Systems programming - Development of other supporting systems in systems-programming languages such as Python, including: server monitoring & reliability (it's essential that our systems stay up); identifying where resources need to be scaled/adjusted etc
What else?
- A Good understanding of AWS is essential (Certification preferred)
- Knowledge of networking, protocols, HTTP, TCP/UDP and serialisation formats (JSON, XML).
- Experience of IoT protocols such as MQTT is also valuable.
- Opportunity to get involved in Embedded firmware/Scripting development (eg in C/C++/Python)
- Ability to interface with customers to understand and document requirements, derive timescales/costs and provide customer support.
