Description

We are IT Recruitment Specialists partnered with a prestigious Global Consultancy who required a Code Architect - Knutsford for one of their public sector Clients based in UK.

  • IR35: This role is inside of IR35
  • Initial duration: 6 months

Role Description:

  • Development and drive of improvements in Chef toolset, focusing on process optimization and establishment of best practices
  • Contribute to the strategic product roadmap and development
  • Provide expertise and technical support to application or infrastructure teams and your colleagues
  • Participate in driving adoption and use of Chef across organization - you will be required to code in python, ruby and Chef DSL
  • Stakeholder Management and Leadership
  • Build relationships with internal Barclays clients, discuss and understand their infrastructure needs both on a practical and commercial level. Provide input/influence to design activity
  • Capability to work in geographically dispersed team
  • Ability to communicate between technical and business teams
  • Empathy and capability to control/manage escalations in highly pressurized environment
  • Ability to adapt quickly and to demonstrate a flexible approach

Person Specification

An experienced product Architect, with previous hands-on experience of Chef, who is able to work in a global team, influence stakeholders and able to deliver to an agreed roadmap.

Essential Skills/Basic Qualifications:

  • Experienced Solution/Product Architect with specific knowledge of Chef architecture as a platform for automated configuration management in a complex environment
  • Expert level knowledge of Chef Infrastructure (Cookstyle, test kitchen, chef spec, runlist, policies, data stores, data bags, chef infra server)
  • Experience with knife command and writing recipes for infrastructure cookbooks
  • Hands on experience of Jenkins Pipeline, GIT and writing CI/CD pipeline
  • Experience of writing Python code
  • Experience in writing SQL queries
  • Self-starter with a challenging but positive and influential style

Desirable skills/Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience of Cloud Infrastructure - AWS and Azure
  • Experience of both Windows and Unix OS
  • Knowledge/Experience of Ansible
  • TOGAF certification
  • Knowledge of Agile & Lean methodologies & DevOps
  • Experience of Ruby
