HR Service Manager

Whitehall Resources are currently looking for a HR Service Manager based in Bedfordshire with remote working for an initial 6-month contract.

* OUTSIDE IR35.*

The HR Service Manager needs a deep understanding of HR technology, architecture and design along with experience in Service Management, using Agile methodology and DevOps principles.

The Service Manager should be passionate about software development and also be willing to lead, coach and enable wider teams to grow and expand their software delivery capabilities and skills.

This is an outstanding opportunity for a seasoned manager to advance modern software development practices within our team (DevOps/CI/CD/AI/ML, automated testing), and building bespoke integration solutions which will accelerate the ability to run and transform a critical business platform.

Main Responsibilities:
- Lead a team of engineers and support analysts to ensure high-performance that consistently and iteratively delivers high-impact, high-quality solutions
- Collaborate with Platform Lead and cross functional IT teams to maintain and deliver solutions using technology that best fits the platform in a way that is operationally resilient, stable and sustainable
- Solve complex technical problems and work alongside complementary delivery platforms while aligning solutions with cross portfolio data strategies and target architecture
- Work with Platform Lead on the technical direction of the platform ensuring we have the right technology to enable business partners to work efficiently and accurately and are able to cope with fast moving industry and regulatory changes
- Working in collaboration with the Platform Lead in applying technical acumen to determine an optimal balance between COTS, SaaS and home-grown solutions, owning their life cycles and roadmap end to end
- Estimation, implementation and delivery of features and functional enhancements within the platform that can support the improvement in value, revenue, profitability and user satisfaction
- Perform SCRUM Master role for backlog/sprint management and prioritization with backlog management teams
- Collaborate with Platform Lead in Architecture team engagement for major changes and adjustments to platform blueprint and landscape
- Ensure modern, controlled and regulated agile software development practices and a great engineering culture
- Promote and embed CI/CD to improve the software development process and transform the IT system estate into an ecosystem that delivers great user experiences and excellent IT service to the business
- Evangelize the adoption of DevOps tools and capabilities within the business and IT community
- Accountability for ensuring seamless service delivery, platform operational health and prioritisation of break-fix activities
- Ability to calmly handle incidents, problems and change on critical systems in accordance with the AZ ITSM enterprise framework
- Lead the day to day offshore operations, monitoring and maintenance of the platform to ensure reliable, predictable and efficient service
- Proactively monitor production performance to help guide future development and opportunities, ensuring the platform is scalable and resilient for peak demands
- Maintaining up to date platform documentation and knowledge articles
- Owns the Acceptance to Service (ATS) process of new services into the platform alongside Platform Lead
- Build and support your teams through hiring, coaching, mentoring, feedback and hands-on career development that helps drive high quality software delivery
- Ensures the team prioritises bandwidth to becomes cross functional and technically upskilled
- Act as Value Stream lead to coordinate activities of technical internal and contract off shore employees
- Provide delivery leadership across systems and applications in the Platform; leverage technical skills across multiple application support areas
- Work alongside Platform Lead to deliver platform quality and risk management
- Work alongside Platform Lead to deliver platform compliance for GxP/SOx/Data Privacy to ensure control frameworks, testing and overall compliance in platform ways of working
- Provide Platform Lead with regular service performance metrics, health, scorecards and reporting
- Work cross functionally on delivery and execution of application life cycle retirement

Key Skills:
- Degree level education (Information Technology or similar)
- 5+ Years of Experience working in IT service management & management technical lead roles within global teams, delivering and supporting solutions
- Experience of HR software solutions Workday, Peoplesoft and Success Factors.
- Strong experience in Workday would be advantageous
- Software development experience having worked in and developed a team of high performing software engineers responsible for multiple products
- Experience of working in Agile teams using SCRUM and SAFe methodologies and tools JIRA, & Service Now
- Experience working in a globally distributed team
- Understanding of software engineering CI/CD processes, with experience in the design and implementation of applications build, release, deployment, containerization and configuration control management
- Experience in a validated environment with operational awareness of GxP and SOx
- Supporting responsibility for decommission process and execution throughout the technology stack
- Technically competent and curious with a passion to explore, iterate, fail, and learn
- Experience of vendor/technology selection to fulfil specific gaps in the solution stack

Desirable Skills:
- Experience with Monitoring tools like Splunk, AppDynamics, Aternity
