Job Title: Senior IT SupportKey Responsibilities
Responsible for all aspects of IT Infrastructure development and support
Management of suppliers of infrastructure services to ensure that delivered services meet or exceed service level agreements (SLAs)
Project Management of infrastructure change and support services
Main Duties
Actively review, monitor and improve network infrastructure security through regular audit and the utilisation of appropriate tools;
Planning, management and implementation of projects that are delivering infrastructure change and service improvements;
Implement and manage the process for the IT asset inventory to ensure it is accurately maintained to demonstrate full software license compliance;
Undertake full capacity planning for desktop, network and servers and take the appropriate action to risk of capacity related issues arising;
Research latest technologies to enable identification and recommendations to be made on potential solutions to support business needs;
Build good relationships with vendors and implement a process to monitor their performance against service level agreements;
Act as the 3rd and 4th line support service for the IT Team, liaising with the Service Desk where required. Ensure effective use of the Service Desk system;
Provide Technical Leadership to a small team on all aspects of infrastructure, and act as the escalation point for the team;
Development and regular testing of Disaster Recovery plans and data backup strategy to meet business requirements;
Maintain the security of the Hospital's data through an effective data access policy;
Manage an effective out of hours support service;
Ownership of Priority 1/Critical incidents, working closely with suppliers to ensure resolution through to closure including root-cause analysis;
Introduce appropriate ITIL processes into the Operations/Infrastructure area;
Work with the Applications Support team and other areas of IT to plan and manage infrastructure changes and upgrade processes for all applications and underlying databases;
Ensure the correct levels of access are granted to users and are assigned/removed in a timely manner for leavers/starters

Wide Area Network - recently increased to 100MB
Microsoft Windows servers - moving to 2012 early 2015
Microsoft SQL 2012 databases
Active Directory - currently 2003 but planned to be upgraded to 2012
Citrix XenApp- currently running 4.5 but in process of being upgraded to 7.5
New Wireless Network - Aruba
Firewall - Palo Alto
Microsoft Exchange 2010
FlexPod - CISCO UCS servers, Netapp storage, CISCO Nexus switches
Windows 7
Office 2010
Telephone system - Mitel SX-2000
Blackberry BES servers - future plan to move to Citrix

In terms of scope/size, there are approximately 40 servers to manage, 350 end users + consultants (550 staff).
The ideal candidate will have recent experience of working in a busy Hospital, but candidates with experience of any industry (eg Hospitality) will be considered.
