A brand new vacancy for a talented Software Engineer or Senior Software Engineer with experience of developing real time embedded software in C/C++ -ideally on ARM/Linux platforms. The job will be to develop a range of ultra-high technology, video-based vehicle identification systems using ANPR technology. These automated video and image processing systems provide a comprehensive road traffic analysis, vehicle surveillance and tracking facility. As a senior Software Developer on the camera side of the project it will be a superb opportunity to contribute your own innovative ideas to the system architecture in addition to hands-on C/C++ coding.

Main Responsibilities
* Real time embedded C/C++ software to drive, control and interface HDTV video cameras.
* Signal and Image processing Software & Algorithm development including coding, testing, delivery and support.
* Assistance with requirements gathering and software design.
* Developing GUI front ends, PC based applications and analytical tools in C/C++ (or maybe C#) to evaluate and enhance the camera output -eg using image processing toolkits.
* Ownership of all new facilities and enhancements to a range of ANPR cameras. Assuming the role of a mentor to other less experienced Software Engineers when appropriate.

Requirements
* Degree (BEng , MEng, BSc, MSc, BA/MA) or equivalent in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related subject. A recent PhD way also be considered in lieu of experience.
* Essential: strong real-time embedded C/C++ including at least some exposure to DSP/signal processing or image/video processing technologies.
* Experience of developing applications for DSP chipsets and/or FPGA devices (porting will be done by others so VHDL is not required).
* Some experience of developing supporting applications in C/C++/C#
