Torsh, an early stage Ed-Tech startup, is seeking a talented visual designer to join our user experience team on a part time or project basis. We believe that our products should be both functional and beautiful and we need your help to make it happen.
Our Company:
We’re a small team of 7 people who love what we do. Our primary goal is to help teachers get better; and if teachers get better then students will also get better. We do this by deploying a video-based teacher observation and data analytics platform that makes it really easy for teachers to record themselves teaching and then seek and receive instant feedback from mentors and peers via a school based social network.
The Position:
We are looking for an outstanding visual designer that can create simple, elegant and beautiful designs that provide a delightful user experience. You will be responsible for a) developing an overall design guide for our products in collaboration with a cross-functional team comprised of senior management, engineering and product development, b) producing high-quality visual designs—from concept to execution, including those for web and mobile applications at a variety of resolutions, c) helping sales & marketing translate key elements of our design into printed marketing materials, and d) developing conceptual diagrams, wireframes, and visual mockups.
Who You Are:
You are passionate about education technology and enjoy working in a startup
You are reliable, committed, collaborative and have great communication skills
You possess exceptional visual design skills, including the ability to establish visual hierarchy, layout, typography, and use color effectively; you are also fluent in user-centered design principles and have a keen eye for subtle details
You are able to use visual design to organize information and guide people through tasks
You are fluent in Photoshop, Illustrator, and other design related software; you have a strong knowledge of HTML/CSS; and you have an interest in emerging web technologies
You have a BA/BFA in design (e.g., interaction, graphic, visual communications) and/or can demonstrate experience via a portfolio showing excellent visual design work
