Software Systems Test Engineer - Oxford - ContractDay Rate: £260-£270 per day
Start Date: April-May 2015
Location: Oxford
Contract Length: 6-12 Months
An opportunity has arisen for a skilled Software/Systems Engineer to work as the Common Infrastructure Test & Acceptance Engineer on a major programme. The successful candidate will be responsible for the functional qualification of the Common Infrastructure. This product will provide network, storage, application hosting and management of a new system highly responsible to the organisations new programme.
The Software Test Engineer responsibilities include:
- Formal system requirements management including definition, decomposition and compilation of compliance evidence.
- Assisting with the development of innovative certification and acceptance strategies to facilitate the exploitation of technologies in a military environment.
- Develop test and certification strategies and detailed test plans to gather evidence that demonstrates compliance with software and hardware requirements.
- Maintenance of qualification plans and procedures to manage product acceptance testing.
- Assist with the verification and configuration of System software releases.
- Perform product verification and qualification testing in accordance with project schedules, processes and standards.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- Knowledge of computing systems and software engineering methods.
- Knowledge of Infrastructure, systems architecture and networks
- Definition of test schedules, scenarios, scripts, environments and tools
- Analysing problems encountered during testing and proposing solutions.
- Ability to work independently and be pro-active
- Ability to analyse problems encountered during the test run and work out solutions
- Support the identification of qualification equipment requirements
- Support setup of test environment/tools
- Experience with DOORS
DESIRABLE SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- Systems/Software Engineering experience
- Experience with C#, Java, Scripting languages
- Experience with Linux, MS Windows
- Experience with communication networks
- Experience with VMWare
- Experience with UML in particular with Enterprise Architect
