SQL Database Analyst - Contract - SouthamptonComputer Futures are seeking a SQL Database Analyst contractor in the Southampton area for an initial six month contract.
Type: 6 Month Contract
Rate: £350 - £375 per day dependant on experience
Location: Southampton
Start Date: Immediate
This position will cover SQL DBA, SQL reporting and SQL development in a complex environment to cover all database systems across three sites. This role is essential in providing database expertise and to make significant improvements across all departmental processes.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- SQL administration and backups
- SQL Database Cluster Design and maintenance
- Maintain log shipping, indexes, statistics and DB settings
- Monitor SQL server performance
- Monitor ETL success and performance
- Monitor data feeds
- Design and build reports
- Implement data mining models
- Back-up SSRS and reporting databases
- Consistency checking (DBCC CHECKDB)
- Analyse and refine security access to data
Skills, Knowledge & experience
Essential
- Minimum of three years working with SQL systems with complex data
- SQL 2008 + administration, maintenance, back up and performance efficiency
- T-SQL scripting
- SSIS, SSRS
- Stored procedure creation and improvements
- SQL extended events or profiler monitoring
- SQL TDE and HSM technology
- Other Microsoft applications including SharePoint
Desirable
- Must be self-motivated, working alongside various departments in the Company
- Drive to understand SQL principles and best practises
- Be a team player when situations affecting different aspects of infrastructure occur
- Analytical mindset with excellent understanding of SQL design
- MySQL/NoSQL experience
- Knowledge of PowerShell and SMO
