Description

We are looking for a highly motivated software engineer who will be pivotal in delivering the next range of high end embedded marine navigation products.

The Software Developer will be responsible for developing system and application level software for a range of embedded marine navigation products. The role will involve working as part of the local software development team as well as interacting with other members of the global team.

The role requires involvement in all phases of the software development lifecycle, from initial concepts and group consultation through to design, coding, testing, debugging and software release.

He/she should be able to function within a highly talented specialised team environment with limited supervision and is expected to coordinate with others to accomplish tasks.

The successful fulfillment of this role will result in:
Customers receiving products that meet or exceed their expectations in terms of features, quality, ease of use and time to market.
The group will deliver products that meet or exceed their needs and expectations.
Proud of the products that they create as a team.
Development of system and application software for new and existing embedded products and systems.
In-house and on-water validation of product and system operation
Diagnosis of issues identified during testing.
Involvement in manufacturing test software development.
Identify and manage own tasks in line with project requirements and schedule, and report on progress to project lead.
Coordinate with other engineers to ensure the successful launch of products.
Interact with beta testers, product support engineers and other customers in troubleshooting and problem resolution.
Perform maintenance activities and software/feature upgrades for products already in production.
Communicate openly with all team members to create world class marine products that grab market attention.

Minimum requirements:
Electronics, Computer Science or equivalent degree
Good knowledge of C++
An understanding of object oriented design
An understanding of typical software development lifecycle
Experience of system debugging
Knowledge of Qt (Digia) is desirable
Marine/sailing experience is desirable

Direct functional reporting will be to the local R&D Manager.

Specific project reporting will be to the Project Manager.

Objectives will be set in line with the overall development roadmap.

Performance and self-development goals will be reviewed after 3 months and thereafter annually in line with our Performance Management Programme.
