Description
Software Developer
We require a software developer to assist in the delivery of systems support and development across multiple sites within the Group. Reporting directly to the Software Development Team Lead, you will be responsible for solutions development that enhance functionality, increase performance, simplify maintenance and extend integration and reporting capabilities across all Group systems.
The Role:
- To analyse and evaluate program code and identify appropriate modification and enhancement requirements;
- To develop database designs when required for the application;
- To develop and execute system test plans to ensure application performance conforms to specifications;
- To modify programs in order to correct errors and optimize system performance and cost-effectiveness;
- Follow the change management process, and perform all necessary technical and project management duties needed to bring applications on-line within acceptable time period and budgeted amounts;
- To implement and maintain database files; generate reports and data runs; design screens, utility programs and menus;
- To develop software documentation and user training materials; train and work with users in implementing new applications or systems enhancements; and
- To provide out of hours support on a rotational basis.
Essential Criteria
- Be educated to degree level in a software related discipline or a minimum of 5 years software development experience;
- Possess a minimum of 2 years development experience using C#/VB.NET (Exposure to entire software life cycle);
- Have prior experience of SQL Server;
- Be able to work on their own initiative and work well as part of a team;
- Be flexible and quickly adapt to changing business needs and processes;
- Possess good problem solving skills and creative ability; and
- Have excellent verbal and written communication skills in order to liaise with business users.
Desirable Criteria
- Experience in one or more of the following reporting/dashboard technologies: PowerPivot, PowerView, Performance Point, and/or Qlikview;
- Experience of SSRS, Crystal Reports or comparable reporting packages;
- Experience with SSIS; and
- Previous experience of working in an FMCG/manufacturing environment.
