Wholesale Banking Specialist
- Unique opportunity to lead and project manage the implementation of a regulatory project for Wholesale Banking. This is to include the annual report, providing quarterly updates of the sector and producing a range of dashboards and ad-hoc analysis to inform the organisations views of the sector.
- Leading a team of sector-specialists and non-sector analysts in the scoping, development, socialising and delivery of such products.
- Collaborating and influencing across all areas of the organisation to develop a comprehensive view of Wholesale Banking drawing on relevant expertise from outside of programme.
- Representing and acting as an advocate of the work performed within the programme, specifically when interacting with sector teams and experts across the organisation. You will support and challenge key stakeholders to ensure that the organisation's collective understanding of the Wholesale Banking is up to date.
- Expert knowledge, supported by robust data/information should be used to ensure that prioritisation and risk management decisions are well informed.
- Providing deep sector expertise to the programme to ensure that the products which the Division produces are credible and of sufficient quality to be used to inform decision making at senior management level.
- Contributing to the programme intelligence-gathering through establishing and maintaining internal and external networks with information sources. And contributing to the programmes intelligence and analytics strategy.
- Identifying gaps/limitations in data and knowledge and working with the Data & Information
- Operations department to source and acquire new or improved data and information to support robust analysis.
- This role may also require liaison directly with regulated firms and/or trade associations to source and/or validate datasets and other information.
- Providing technical support, including coaching and mentoring of your colleagues, sharing expertise to enable the team to produce credible, useful products and to develop the programme collective skills and experience.
- Providing recommendations or proposals on what the information means for the sector.
Minimum, Essential & Desirable skills -
Minimum
- Experience of working in the Wholesale Banking environment or in an Advisory Capacity in this sector
Essential
- Expert knowledge of financial services, regulation and products/services within Wholesale Banking (eg cash management services, Debt Capital, Foreign Exchange, Equity Research etc.
- Strong analytical skills; ability to analyse large amounts of information, identify and present key themes and propose a range of possible solutions.
- Strong stakeholder management skills (internal and external); able to build effective relationships quickly to support the delivery of organisation objectives, the programme and other analysis products which may be required to support the strategy and decision making
- Ability to challenge others' views constructively (including at a senior level) while maintaining good relationships
- Proven ability in providing advice and/or applying expert knowledge to undertake or manage complex tasks and projects.
- Expert understanding of Wholesale Banking and business models within it, key products and the roles played by various different institutions in the relevant sub-sectors.
- Strong written communication skills; able to present well-reasoned arguments in a clear and concise manner adapting the style to your audience
- Experience of leading a team of specialist and non-specialist colleagues
- Experience of coaching, developing and mentoring of less experienced colleagues
- Ability to question the value of data sets highlighting their limitations and risks
- Decision making; demonstrates ability to use sound judgement alongside a flexible and creative approach to reach appropriate conclusion
- Organisational ability; can demonstrate ability to manage a variety of competing tasks and issues, prioritising appropriately and escalating where necessary
- Delivery; practical experience of managing and delivering projects (ability to lead or contribute on complex tasks and project work)
- Experience of managing projects involving a wide range of stakeholders
Desirable
- Experience of developing or analysing financial services firms' business strategies
- Experience of conducting risk analysis in financial services firms.
