Manufacturing Engineer - Contract - Derbyshire - Great Rates!

Our client, a leading consultancy firm, requires Manufacturing Engineers with the ability to work in a logical and structured manner to deliver tasks and projects for our client. You will manage your own work load in adherence to a project plan, delivering technical solutions that meet the specification; on time and to a defined standard.

The Role:

  • Work with our clients to define and assess a manufacturing Implementation strategy and the management of this.
  • Manage packages of work using the client's methods and processes.
  • Successfully implement technical projects.
  • Manage task delivery against Quality, Cost and Delivery targets.
  • You will be working from a client's site locally in Derbyshire. Flexibility on working hand in hand with our client's suppliers may be required at locations throughout the UK.

The Requirements:

You will possess a portfolio of skills and knowledge across a range of manufacturing competencies, encompassing but not limited to:

  • Implementing the clients Source and Method Change process.
  • Manufacturing Capability Assessments for new or existing technologies with the clients supply chain.
  • Capturing manufacturing requirements and its production Implementation.
  • Writing technical/procedural documentation.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and maturing these from concept into production is essential. Experience of working in conjunction other stakeholders is also essential.

You will have a professional but amiable persona as you are likely to be working hand in hand with our clients. You will also need to be comfortable working on projects with minimal supervision.

Successful candidates will be required to undergo a security vetting process and offers of employment will be subject to security clearance being granted. Applicants for this position must have the right to work in the UK without restriction.

Qualifications:

  • MEng or BEng in an Engineering discipline (preferably manufacturing) with experience as a manufacturing engineer.

Or

  • HND/HNC in an Engineering discipline (preferably manufacturing) with proven experience as a manufacturing engineer.

Essential Criteria:

  • Knowledge of a range of metallic manufacturing processes and their benefits and limitations.
  • Knowledge of measurement and Inspection techniques.
  • Knowledge and/or experience of machining and fabrication.
  • Knowledge of assessing and creating Methods of Manufacture (SIPOC).
  • Knowledge of NDE techniques.
  • Fully conversant with GD&T and/or ASME 14.5.
  • Knowledge of FAIRS.
  • Knowledge of jigs and fixtures to support manufacture.
  • Ability to assess process capability.
  • PFMEA facilitator.
  • Writing technical reports and/or procedures.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills.
  • Comfortable working in new and changing environments.
  • Able to communicate effectively at all levels.
  • Professional and amicable persona.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Knowledge of conducting a dimensional Characteristic Matrix.
  • Auditing of suppliers prior to shipment.
  • Knowledge of Steam-raising power plant and components (pressure vessels, heat exchangers etc).
  • SAP knowledge.
  • Supplier Quality Assurance (SQE)
  • Supplier quality assurance/PPAP.
  • Supply chain planning and control.
  • Project management skills.
