Description

Responsibilities:
Review mechanical deliverables defined in the SOP's for new product designs and modifications to existing designs and provide findings and feedback to the new product development team or sustaining engineering team. Documentation to review include mechanical assembly drawings, two-dimensional component drawings, mechanical tolerance analysis, qualification and test plans, manufacturing bill-of-materials, manufacturing assembly instructions, and product samples.
Participate in mechanical design review meetings.
Manage multiple safety reviews concurrently with attention to detail and facts. Be able to manage their time to complete assigned tasks and commitments, and set priorities based on management and customer input.
Demonstrate effective presentation and communication skills regarding mechanical safety issues in front of managers and peers. Know when it's appropriate to use email, instant-messenger, phone, and other tools to communicate with team members or others. Also, know when to communicate that commitments are endangered.
Work independently and only receive instruction on complex work assignments.
Willing to take on additional responsibilities as needed in support of the overall mission of the team.

SKILLS:

Skills/Qualifications:
Bachelor/Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
7+ years industry work experience in the new product development process.
Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
Competency in Microsoft programs (Excel, Word, Powerpoint and Outlook.)
Experience in the design of plastic components, metal stamped components, insulators, fasteners, wires, final assemblies and the 2D drawings used to specify and qualify them.
Understanding of plastic injection molding tool design and processes.
Proficient in CAD, FMEA, and FEA tools.
Understanding of Design for Six Sigma methodology and Statistical Process Control.
Familiar with power supply or electronic hardware design, analysis, and manufacturing.
Familiar with ultrasonic and resistance welding equipment and processes.
Familiar with design for manufacturing guidelines and best practices.
Understanding of mechanical tolerance, stress, and displacement force analysis.
Understanding of regulatory requirements for information technology equipment.
Familiar with electronic printed circuit board assembly (rigid and flexible.)
Experience working with engineers from other cultures and geographically located in other parts of the world.
