Systems Engineer - Defence/Military/Naval/Requirements Capture/UML

Introduction:
Capital International is currently recruiting a contract Senior Systems Engineer for a defence electronic systems specialist. This is an exciting opportunity to support existing and future projects within a major engineering business group.

The successful candidate will need to have experience of electronic system design/development in the defence industry, preferably the Naval/Marine domain.

Overview of role:

You will be responsible for managing and conducting System Engineering activities throughout the complete lifevcycle of a project, often acting as a project System Design Authority (SDA).

Some of the knowledge and skills required for the role:
* Familiarity with the whole system/product life cycle.
* Experience of capture and analysis of functional and non-functional requirements.
* Experienced in synthesising high-level requirements through to design requirements.
* Experience of system design development and planning
* Experienced in developing verification/validation/acceptance plans and procedures.
* Experience of assessing designs against requirements.
* Experience of system commissioning, integration and acceptance.

Responsibilities include:
* Being the technical point of contact with the customer and subcontractors
* Writing the project System Requirements Specifications
* Developing and documenting the System Design through System Design Specifications and Interface Specifications
* Ensuring compliance of the design to the technical requirements and project constraints (eg cost)
* Defining the system's sub-systems and their requirements including hardware and software
* Developing and continually refining the system acceptance strategy, and verification method for each system requirement. This includes writing the Acceptance Management Plan and Test Specifications.
* Ensuring the specification, design and acceptance are fully traceable

Please note that due to the nature of the project, the successful candidate must be capable of attaining SC clearance as a minimum.
